Volunteer Agreement

This Volunteer Agreement outlines the expectations, responsibilities, and commitments between Faith in Scarborough Schools (“the Organisation”) and the volunteer.

1. Purpose of the Role
Volunteers support the Organisation’s work in local schools by contributing to activities that promote positive values, personal development, and appropriate faith-based engagement in an inclusive and respectful manner.

2. Role and Responsibilities
As a volunteer, you agree to:
• Support school-based activities such as assemblies, workshops, or clubs
• Represent the Organisation in a professional and respectful manner
• Respect the ethos, policies, and diversity of each school
• Work under the guidance of designated staff or team leaders
• Maintain appropriate boundaries with children and young people at all times

3. Safeguarding and Conduct
You agree to:
• Comply with all safeguarding and child protection policies
• Complete any required training before working in schools
• Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the designated safeguarding lead
• Never be alone with a child where it breaches safeguarding guidelines
• Treat all students with dignity, respect, and without discrimination

4. Confidentiality
Volunteers must:
• Keep confidential any personal or sensitive information obtained during volunteering
• Not share information about students, staff, or schools without permission, unless required for safeguarding

5. Equality and Inclusion
The Organisation is committed to inclusion.
Volunteers must:
• Respect all backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures
• Avoid sharing personal beliefs in a pressurising manner
• Support an environment that is welcoming to all

6. Health and Safety
Volunteers agree to:
• Follow all school and Organisation health and safety procedures
• Take reasonable care of their own safety and that of others
• Report any accidents or hazards promptly

7. DBS and Eligibility
Volunteers must:
• Hold a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (where required)
• Inform the Organisation of any changes that may affect their suitability to work with children

8. Training and Support
The Organisation will:
• Provide relevant training and guidance
• Provide necessary information about each school setting

9. Expenses
• Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses may be reimbursed with prior agreement and receipts

10. Voluntary Nature of Role
• This agreement is not a contract of employment
• Either party may end the volunteering arrangement at any time

11. Use of Personal Data
• Personal information will be stored and used in accordance with data protection laws and only for purposes related to volunteering​
